Liviu Rebreanu

Born in Transylvania, Liviu Rebreanu served in the Austro-Hungarian army in World War I. The Glasgow Herald called him “one of the greatest novelists of all time,” and the Sunday Telegraph praised him as “a major author, a prose genius.”
