Retired FBI agent Gregor Demarkian is an expert in uncovering the motives and methods of killers. Following his stint heading the bureau’s Behavioral Analysis Unit in Washington, DC, he returns home to Philadelphia heartbroken and listless after the death of his wife. In order to keep himself busy, Demarkian begins working as a private sleuth in the community where he grew up. With help from fantasy writer Bennis Hannaford and Father Tibor of the local Armenian Orthodox church, Demarkian—called “the Armenian-American Hercule Poirot” by the local paper—takes on Philadelphia’s most baffling murder cases.
