Guns of Liberty

Charged with assassinating George Washington, the daring swordsman Daniel McQueen saves the great general’s life and is rewarded with a makeshift medal: an English coin whose engraving of King George has been scrawled over with the initials GW. Passed down from McQueen to his descendants, this medal becomes the symbol of a family’s bravery and the struggle to keep a young nation free.

Guns of Liberty tells of Daniel McQueen’s encounter with Washington, which changes the course of the Revolutionary War. The medal then passes to his son, Kit McQueen, a swashbuckling sailor who battles the Spanish in Sword of Vengeance, and helps defend New Orleans against the British in Jack Iron. His son, Ben McQueen, takes the medal to Texas, where he narrowly escapes a savage cult in Warriors of the Night, and fights to regain his memory after a bout of amnesia in Scorpion. After an assassin’s bullet narrowly misses his heart in Ride the Panther, the family’s legacy of adventure passes on to Ben’s children: Pacer Wolf and Jesse. A spy for the Union army, Jesse wears the medal around his neck when he infiltrates Vicksburg in Only the Gallant, risking his life to save the country that his great-grandfather helped found.
