Freedom of the Mask

The Matthew Corbett series (seven books so far, with more to come) are set in Colonial America, in locations from Charles Town in the Carolinas to New York City to London. Corbett is a "problem-solver," not just a thinker but a man of action who becomes involved in mysterious disappearances, murders, and crimes of all kinds, foiling the plans of a series of evildoers.
