Pemberton is a yellow, fuzzy Labrador Retriever-and he wants nothing more than to meet this "forever family" he's been hearing about!
As a puppy, Pemberton is taken from his mother and brought to a puppy mill, where he desperately misses the comfort of being loved and cared for. When he's rescued by local shelter workers, he finds himself in a foster home for other dogs like him. While the older labs, Gus and Churchill, help Pemberton come out of his shell, he still longs to find a home where he truly belongs.
One day, a family with a shy little boy comes to visit the foster home, and Pemberton thinks this just might be the "forever family" he's heard about . . .
Heartwarming, emotional, and uplifting, this early reader's chapter book is sure to delight young puppy-lovers and speak to the need to belong in all of us.
