William E. Colby

William E. Colby began his career during World War II as a paratrooper in occupied France and Norway. He subsequently joined the CIA, operating in Sweden and Italy before being named Chief of Station in Vietnam. Colby was appointed Director of Central Intelligence in 1973, resigning in 1976. He then practiced law and engaged in several international public policy issues, primarily those related to nuclear nonproliferation.
