Mary Mackey is the bestselling author of fourteen novels, including McCarthy’s List, AGrandPassion, and TheVillageofBones, as well as nine poetry collections. Her 2012 collection Sugar Zone won the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Award for Literary Excellence. A member of the Writers Guild of America, Mackey has also written several feature-length screenplays for Warner Brothers and other studios. Her work has been praised by major writers such as Maxine Hong Kingston, Pat Conroy, and Wendell Berry. She is currently Professor Emeritus and former Writer in Residence at California State University, Sacramento, and has over 16,000 followers on Twitter/X.
