Dr Martin Bellamy originally trained as a naval architect. He subsequently took up a career in museums and is currently the Research and Curatorial Manager at Glasgow Museums. He is the author of a number of books and articles on cultural aspects of shipping and shipbuilding is editor of The Mariner’ s Mirror, the international journal of the Society for Nautical Research.
