Dorothy Canfield Fisher
Dorothy Canfield Fisher (1879–1958) is a bestselling author, in addition to her work as an educational reformer and social activist. A strong supporter of women’s rights, racial equality, and lifelong education, she was named one of the ten most influential women in the United States by Eleanor Roosevelt. Fisher is credited with presiding over America’s first adult education program, as well as bringing the Montessori method of child-rearing to the U.S.
