Anthony Hope
Anthony Hope (1863–1933) was an author and playwright best known for his adventure novels The Prisoner of Zenda and Rupert of Hentzau. Born Anthony Hope Hawkins, he originally trained and practiced as a lawyer, releasing self-printed books at his own expense. The publication of The Prisoner of Zenda in 1894 catapulted him to a level of success he never found again. Nevertheless, Hope was an impressively prolific writer, releasing thirty-one more titles before his death.
